It’s not every day that you get to tick off a dream venue from your wish list, but that’s exactly what happened when I was finally able to dress a wedding at the stunning St Chad's College in Durham! Since starting my wedding decor business I had been waiting for the opportunity to work at this beautiful venue. However, with the chaos that came with Covid, it wasn’t until 2022 that I received an enquiry from the lovely Alexandra & Thomas. After waiting two more years for their big day, it’s safe to say it was absolutely worth it!
Alexandra & Thomas had a clear vision for their wedding decor, and it was an absolute pleasure to bring it to life. For their ceremony backdrop, they chose my ever-popular Everly foliage archway, which added burst of greenery and romance to their vows. For the reception, my Hannah Flower Wall was the perfect choice for a photo backdrop, creating a lush and elegant setting for guests to capture memories. They also opted for some of my smaller extras, including a postbox for cards and a floral display bike, which sat perfectly under their welcome sign.
What really made this wedding decor stand out, though, was the beautiful blossom chair sashes. I’ve always loved how these sashes can transform a room, and they worked so well at St Chad’s College. They added a soft, floral touch and helped create the Bridgerton-inspired theme that Alexandra was dreaming of. It was like stepping into a scene from a period drama—so romantic and full of charm!
No wedding is complete without a show-stopping cake, and I was thrilled to see Alexandra & Thomas choose Mrs BouCake to create theirs. As my absolute favorite cake maker, I knew she would deliver something amazing, and she didn’t disappoint. The cake was beautifully decorated and tied in perfectly with the overall theme of the day.
One of the things I love about St Chad's College is its proximity to Durham Cathedral. Just a short walk away, the cathedral provided the most breathtaking backdrop for the couple's photos. There’s something so magical about seeing a couple surrounded by the history and grandeur of such an iconic building.
When looking through their gallery what stood out most about Alexandra & Thomas' wedding wasn’t just the beautiful decor (although I’m obviously a little biased!), but the atmosphere. The whole day was filled with so much love, laughter, and joy. From the heartfelt ceremony to the lively reception, you could tell this was a day the couple and their guests would remember forever. Here's a selection of some of my favourite photos from the day, supplier information can be found below the gallery.
